On the way from Bicheno to Hobart we took a detour following a sign to Nine Mile Beach. We had no idea where we were going but we came across a peaceful swimming spot with still clear water. On the way back to the highway I found myself drawn to this rugged dry landscape with a building and mountains in the background. You could think you were pulled up somewhere in the desert if you were not aware that the beach was so close by. I think it reminded me of a scene from an old film though I am not sure what it would have been. The location had a timeless quality about it.
