On my last weekend in Tasmania my friends (including their one year old baby) and I went hiking and camping for two nights in the Walls of Jerusalem National Park. We were very lucky that the weather was beautiful and clear all weekend. It was such an amazing place to walk around and explore; like a world tucked up away from the rest of the world.

I really noticed how quiet and still it was as we walked from Wild Dog Creek to Dixon's Kingdom. It is special to find somewhere so silent.

I had so many dreams sleeping in the Trappers Hut on the first night. I almost froze my toes off sleeping on an old wooden door that was exposed to the cool breeze that came through in the middle of the night.

The next evening I sat on a log outside Dixon's Kingdom Hut and watched the sun set over the mountains. The light moved over the landscape so quickly and I remember being surprised at how still my surroundings were; I found myself anticipating the sunset to make a sound.

On the Sunday morning my friend Matthew and I climbed up Solomon's Throne and looked out over the lakes and the mountains. I stayed up on the mountain for a while as he ran down to go climb up The Temple, the other mountain next door. I saw him down below running up the other side and quickly snapped a photo. He shouted out a "wait there!" so I started waving away while he snapped a photo. It's pretty cool to see a photo of yourself standing up on a mountain. It's something I would not have imagined myself doing but then suddenly there I was and it was so easy. I am going to miss the mountains a lot when I return to Melbourne.
