So now I'm settling back in Melbourne and winding down from my travels. I feel a little sad to have left Tasmania but I'm excited for things that I will do in Melbourne and directions that I'm going to travel in the future. I feel like two and a half months was a good amount of time to travel and live and work in a new place; I have a much better knowledge and appreciation of Tasmania now.

Finishing art school can be a terribly daunting time and I think that going away and focusing on my work (and life) was a really good way to take a breather from the hype of graduating and gain momentum to work independently outside of the university institution. After five years at art school I'm really happy to take what I have learnt and now be able to drift along and work at my own pace and not have to worry about constantly having other people's voices in my head; I can listen to myself more and trust that I will figure things out through my own process of making. It's a nice feeling. I think art should be able to be appreciated by many different people and so I feel like if I keep my work interesting and honest to myself then perhaps it will have the power to reach out to someone else's life in some way.

I'm feeling quite keen to continue working and see what happens. This is not a final conclusion but more of a starting point from where I will continue and drift on.

If you would like to follow my work further, I update my main blog http://howtocookporridge.blogspot.com.au/
